OSI Food Solution Spain runs in Toledo, Spain. The plant recently enlarged its capacity to process chicken. The organization just added a high-capacity production line which will see the it produce 24 000 tons of chicken products yearly. Before the new plant was added, the company was able to provide only 12,000 tons every year hence this new line will bring more benefits to the company.
This current expansion has made the OSI Food Solution Spain produce a total of 45,000 tons of pork, beef, and chicken products. Additionally, before the new production line, the company could only be able to employ 140 workers. However, this new addition will allow the company to increase the number of employees to 160 which is a great benefit to the local economy.
According to José María del Río, the managing director of OSI Food Solution Spain, there has been tremendous growth in the demand for chicken products in Portugal and Spain. The growth has increased in the past three years from 3% to 8% José María del Río says. Because this demand is expected to go up, the OSI Groups decided to increase its chicken production in advance to meet needs of the market.
The new building housing the new production line measures 22,600 square feet. Additionally, it has a product development kitchen that will be used to address the changing demand of consumers and clients. Moreover, the building will be housing a social area for the employees, area for supply storage, waste container storage refrigerated rooms, production hall as well as the receiving and shipping areas.
